今日は悠三堂の農福連携の取り組みの話です。僕らは奈良をメインとして京都やその周辺でお茶を作っている株式会社を名乗る小さなお茶農家です。会社を2016年に設立して以来、試行錯誤をしながら、無肥料・無農薬の自然栽培でお茶を製造・販売してきました。 僕と妹の二人で始めた小さい会社です。設立当初から5年目まで、売上がどんどん上がって、常に忙しい状態が続きました。立ち上げ当初から、畑は僕が、お茶の袋詰めや発送は妹が担当していました。それまでも袋詰めは外注していたこともあったのですが、一人でたくさんの袋詰めをし続けるのは負担が大きく、交野市の福祉事業所グリーンサムさんより声をかけていただき、袋詰めを福祉事業所の方に委託することから、僕らの農福連携の取り組みが始まりました。
当初は、妹が袋詰めの指導に福祉事業所に通って指導しました。そのうちに、妹が週に一度、グリーンサムの職員として、出勤するようになりました。クライアントである僕たちが、事業所の職員も兼ねることで、職員間のコミュニケーションが円滑になり、また僕ら自身もそこの利用者と接触する機会が増え、利用者の一人ひとりがどのようにして成長していくか、またどんな仕事が皆とできるのかを考えるきっかけを得ることができました。
袋詰めがある程度習得できた段階で、次に、畑の除草作業を彼らに委託することになりました。農繁期の5月から11月まで。週に3回、午前中にグリーンサムのメンバーに来てもらって、軽度の農作業の補助をしていただいています。最初はぎこちなかったお茶の草取り作業も回数を重ねるに従って、スピードと丁寧さが上がってきました。主にお茶の畝間の草取りを彼らにやってもらっていますが、草刈の得意なメンバーには刈り払い機を操作してもらって周囲の草刈。若くて元気なメンバーには、僕らのお茶の収穫作業の補助に入ってもらって、できることが増えていくように心がけています。
2021年に妹が出産のために、今度は僕がグリーンサムに週に1度出勤するようになりました。福祉事業所に行くのは初めての体験で、最初は緊張しました。何度か息続けているうちにメンバーとも打ち解けて、彼らのバックグラウンドや考えていることを自分なりに理解できるようになってきました。みんなができることを少しでもレベルを上げて、社会でも通用できるようにと福祉事業所だからできないではなくて、こんなこともあんなこともできる福祉事業所になれたらいいなという観点で、彼らにお願いできる仕事をつくるという発想に転換することになりました。
