Shizen Saibai Tea,
For Your Shelves

Natural farming tea from the Yamato Plateau in Nara, Japan — grown pesticide-free and fertilizer-free, and offered in small lots to retailers, cafés and tea rooms around the world.

Introduction

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in Yusando's wholesale programme. We are a family tea farm in the Yamato Plateau of Nara Prefecture, the historic home of Yamato tea. Since 2015 we have practised Shizen Saibai — natural farming with no pesticides and no fertilizers of any kind, organic or chemical. Our fields have held Organic JAS certification since 2018.

At 400–500 metres above sea level, cool nights, warm days and morning mist shape slow-growing leaves with a clean, quiet sweetness. We make matcha, sencha, hojicha, Japanese black tea and a range of naturally fermented and sun-withered bancha, and we would be glad to share them with your customers.

How It Works

Steps to Start Trading

Inquiry

Tell us which teas you would like to carry and how you plan to sell them — shop shelf, café menu, online store or a mix. The application form at the bottom of this page is the quickest route.

Review & Approval

We review every application personally and reply within a few business days. If helpful, we can arrange a video call (Google Meet or WhatsApp) in English or Japanese.

Sample Order

Naturally farmed matcha differs noticeably in colour, aroma and taste from conventional matcha, so we usually ask first-time partners to try a sample. Depending on your experience and order plan we may be able to skip this step. Sample price: ¥3,000 (approx. US$20) plus shipping.

Questions

Frequently Asked

What is Shizen Saibai, and how is it different from organic?

Shizen Saibai (自然栽培) is natural farming: no pesticides and no fertilizers at all, including organic fertilizers such as manure or compost. Organic certification permits approved fertilizers; we use none. The result is a cleaner, lighter cup, and a yield far below conventional farms — which is why lots are small.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

We currently supply small lots of approximately 1–3 kg per tea per order. MOQ varies slightly by product; details are on the wholesale price list.

Do you have organic certification?

Our tea fields have been certified under Japan's Organic JAS standard since 2018. The stone-milling step for matcha is not yet certified, so matcha cannot currently be labelled “Organic JAS” as a finished product. If you need certified labelling, we can introduce a certified mill.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We ship worldwide from Nara by Japan Post EMS, or by DHL Express on request. For the United States we ship with duties prepaid (DDP). If you already have a forwarding address in Japan, domestic shipping is also possible.

What payment methods do you accept?

Bank transfer, credit card, Wise and PayPal. First orders are prepaid, and transfer fees are borne by the buyer.

What is the shelf life?

Approximately 6–12 months when stored in a cool, dark, dry place. Matcha and powders are best kept refrigerated after opening.

Can I return or get a refund?

As tea is a food product, returns and refunds are not accepted after shipment. If goods arrive damaged, please contact us within a few days with photos and we will put it right.

How long does delivery take?

We dispatch within 5–10 business days of payment confirmation. EMS typically takes 4–10 days to most destinations; DHL Express 2–5 days.

Which export documents can you provide?

Certificate of Origin, Organic JAS Certificate (for leaf teas) and shipping documents. We do not operate a metal detector and therefore cannot issue a metal-detection certificate.

Please Read

Terms & Conditions

1. Cultivation Method

All teas are grown by Shizen Saibai natural farming, entirely free from pesticides and fertilizers. Colour, aroma and flavour differ from conventional tea produced with agricultural chemicals and fertilizers; this is the nature of the product, not a defect.

2. Organic Certification

Our fields are certified under the Japanese Organic JAS standard. The stone-milling process used for matcha is not yet certified; if you wish to label matcha as “Organic JAS”, please arrange milling with a certified company (we can make an introduction).

3. Availability & Quantity

We are a small family farm and each year's harvest is limited. Lots are currently 1–3 kg per tea per order, and some teas sell out seasonally. For reliable supply we recommend discussing an annual plan with us.

4. Export Documents

We can issue the following documents:

  • Certificate of Origin
  • Organic JAS Certificate (leaf teas)
  • Shipping documents

We do not have a metal detector and cannot provide a metal-detection certificate.

5. Shipping

We ship internationally from Nara by EMS (standard) or DHL Express (on request). Shipping costs are quoted at order. For the United States, duties and taxes are prepaid. Domestic shipping within Japan is available if you have a forwarding address.

6. Payment Terms

Payment is due in advance of shipment by bank transfer, credit card, Wise or PayPal. All transfer and currency-exchange fees are borne by the buyer.

7. Quality & Storage

Because our tea is naturally grown, colour, aroma and flavour vary slightly with season and weather. Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Shelf life is approximately 6–12 months under proper storage.

8. Refund Policy

As a food product, tea cannot be returned or refunded after shipment. In case of damage in transit, contact us immediately with photographs so we can arrange a replacement or claim.
