A New Way of Working

Three days a week in the fields.

We grow tea without pesticides or fertilizer in the hills of Nara. We work the fields three days a week. Deciding that this was enough took us longer than anything else.

We work the fields three days a week. The rest of the week belongs elsewhere. We call it a new kind of half-farming, half-something-else: not farming as a side job, but farming that earns a real living and leaves room for the other half of a life.

Half Past Nine to Four

9:30 – 16:00

Mornings and evenings stay in our hands. We begin early and we finish early. Long hours are not proof of good work — so rather than changing what we do, we changed the shape of the day around it.

Only What Matters

First we decide what not to do. The fieldwork we share with our social-farming partners. The desk work we hand over to AI. What remains, we give entirely to the tea. It is a way of working that grows richer by subtraction.

English Is Our Language

Our team comes from many countries, so English is the language we work in. A small tea farm in Nara, open to the world. If the tea itself travels across borders, the place it is made can be open too.

Long hours are not proof of good work.
